Diana Hermann, CEO & Herbalist, has been devoted to Traditional Chinese Medicine since beginning her formal training in 1996. Upon graduation from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 1999, she completed an externship in the dermatology department of the First Provincial Hospital of TCM at the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Diana completed the Diploma Course in Chinese Medicine Dermatology twice and has been certified in Chinese Medicine Dermatology by the International Traditional Chinese Medicine Dermatology Association (ITCMDA) since 2015.
In addition to treating patients in her private practice in Fort Collins, Colorado, Diana has been formulating topical herbal skincare products for CMD Skin Solutions (formerly Zi Zai Dermatology) since 2008. In recent years, her love of animals led her to use her skills to create a line of internal and topical dermatology products specially for pets.
Diana currently lives in Colorado with her 7 rescue dogs and 1 rescue cat.
Our Story
I love animals! And as a pet parent and foster mom for many rescue pets, I have cared for many dogs and cats that suffered from skin conditions. The conventional treatment options for managing dermatological problems in pets are just as limited as for humans – antibiotics, steroids, or biologics are the typical choice in most cases of acute or chronic itchy and inflammatory skin. Often, these treatments are not effective, offer only temporary results, or have unwanted side effects like immunosuppression, digestive upset, rebound reactions or development of antibiotic resistance.
I have dedicated my career in Chinese Medicine to the specialty of dermatology. My clinical success in managing chronic skin diseases and acute skin problems with herbal medicine for my patients inspired me to create a line of herbal products to help animals. Patients of mine with red and itchy skin since childhood were able to have healthy, normal skin once again. I wanted to use my decades of dermatology experience to help reduce the suffering in companion animals that suffer from uncomfortable skin.
In Chinese Medicine Dermatology (CMD), we are trained to recognize patterns of imbalance in our patients. Patients that suffer from inflammatory skin issues exhibit a variety of patterns of energetic imbalances. Once we have identified the pattern of energetic imbalance, we can choose herbal medicines that aim to restore balance to the skin and allow it to function more normally. We do not treat diseases, per se…we restore the balance that healthy skin can eventually maintain on its own.
Based on decades of clinical experience in Chinese Medicine Dermatology, I have created a system of safe and effective herbal Solutions to help support healthier skin for your pets. These products are revolutionizing the holistic approach to treating dermatological conditions in companion animals. I plan to dedicate the next phase of my career to training veterinarians on the most effective use of CMD Pet Solutions products to help them achieve the clinical result they’ve not yet seen in their practices. The raw ingredients used in crafting our products are sourced from U.S.-owned companies. Every herbal ingredient is thoroughly tested for botanical identity and to ensure it is free from pesticides, heavy metals, and pathogenic microbes (bacteria, yeast, molds).
