WHY CHOOSE IT

Excess keratin on ears, nose, or paw pads: One chronic issue for some dogs is ear margin hyperkeratosis (a.k.a. ear margin dermatosis or ear margin seborrhea). This is more common in dogs with big floppy ears but can be seen in any shaped ear. The outer margin of the ear develops a ridge of dark, waxy-feeling residue. It does not cause the dog discomfort (unless it gets so severe that fissures develop). But it can lead to alopecia (loss of fur) on the ear. This condition has no known cure.

Excess keratin (the main protein that makes up skin and fur) can also accumulate on the nose and/or the paw pads, giving them a dry, thickened, scaly appearance. This is called nasodigital hyperkeratosis. Pet owners find the appearance of a thickened nose unsightly, but it usually does not cause discomfort to the pet. Severe cases can be painful if the paw pads develop fissure (cracks).

According to Chinese Medicine Dermatology, we understand this condition to be Dampness Obstructing the Exterior (the skin) leading to Stasis of Blood. The herbs in Solution HK: Ears, Nose, Pads Expel Wind Damp, Drain Dampness, Clear Heat, and Move Blood, supporting the health of your pet to help naturally manage this chronic ear, nose, or paw pad problem. **

  • To support healthier skin in your dog, cat, or rabbit, add the herbal supplement to their food or give by mouth via oral syringe.

To add directly to their meal, mix the herbal supplement into moist canned food. Or, add the herbal supplement to your favorite powder nutritional supplement, mix with water to form gravy, and pour over kibble. Herbs can taste bitter to your pet, so you may need to introduce the supplement slowly by starting with a smaller amount at first and gradually increasing it as they get used to the new flavor in their food.

To give via oral syringe, dissolve herbal supplement in hot water. We recommend approximately 2ml of water per gram of herbal supplement (our oral syringes have measurement marks on them to make this easy). In a small bowl or shot glass, add herbal supplement to hot water and stir. Allow a few minutes for herbal supplement to fully dissolve before drawing the liquid mixture up into the syringe. Place syringe between your pet’s tongue and cheek, angled toward the back of their mouth and gently depress the plunger at a slow, even rate.
